Participation policy

Nature of the participation

Your participation consists of:
1) reading this form and agreeing (or not) to participate; and
2) responding to an online questionnaire on your evaluation practices

We will collect the following personal information: your email address, province (place of residence), age, gender, and level of education. This information is collected via the general information of the Compass, and thanks to the interactivity between you and our website. OPIÉVA will only use the data you provide without renting or selling this to a third party. At no time, will the research team use email addresses to identify participants. (Please see the note on anonymity below.)

We use cookies to assemble your information. A cookie is a text file placed in the web directory on your hard disk. No web site other than that which deposited the cookie can read the text file associated with the cookie. The cookies will allow our website to recognize certain personal information which you have provided of your own free will and will be able to present you with innovative pedagogical tools, tailored to your profile.

Advantages and potential risks

By participating in this project, you are contributing to the advancement of knowledge on evaluation practices in education. You will benefit from an external perspective on your own evaluations. You will also obtain a portrait of your evaluation practices. There will be no particular risks or disadvantages for you since the data collection instruments involve no affective load. At the end of this project, we will use the data for statistical and analytical purposes.

The personal information which we collect is stored in a secure environment. The people working for us are required to respect the confidentiality of your information. To ensure the security of your personal information, we employ the following measures: SSL protocol (Secure Sockets Layer) and automatic backup.

We are committed to maintaining a high degree of confidentiality, employing the latest technological innovations to allow us to guarantee the confidentiality of your information.

Anonymity and confidentiality

As the questionnaires are completed online, only your email address could be used to identify you. Nevertheless, the coordination team, the only one with access to raw data, won't use your answers to identify you, unless you explicitly give us your email address at the end of the questionnaire.

Questionnaire which have not been completed will not be counted and will be deleted. Your email address and your answers will be removed from from the list if you exercise your right to withdraw from the project.

Voluntary participation

Your participation in this research is voluntary. This means that even if you agree today to participate, you remain entirely free to not participate, to not complete the Compass questionnaire or to withdraw from the project at any point without justification or penalty.

Liability clause

In agreeing to participate in this project, you are neither renouncing any rights nor absolving the researchers or institutions involved of their legal and professional obligations.

Questions on the project or on your rights

UQAM’s Comité institutionnel d’éthique de la recherche avec des êtres humains (CIEREH [the Institutional Committee of Research Ethics with Human Beings]) has approved this project and will ensure it is monitored. Agreement

I hereby:

a) confirm that I have read this information and consent form;
b) voluntarily agree to participate in this research project;
c) understand the goals of the project and the implications of my participation;
d) confirm that I have had sufficient time to reflect on my decision to participate;
e) understand that my participation in this research is completely voluntary and that I may end it without penalty of any sort nor any justification, up to one month after having completed the survey; and
f) I understand that, by clicking on the consent box, I am signaling my agreement.
